SHERMAN OAKS, CA — A 17-year-old high school student who may have overdosed was taken to a hospital Friday, according to authorities and a broadcast report.

Officers were sent to the 18600 block of Erwin Street shortly after 9 a.m. on a report of a possible overdose, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, which reported that the case was being handled by the Los Angeles School Police Department.

A spokesperson for the LASPD was not immediately available.

Paramedics sent to the location on a report of a "medical incident" took an approximately 17-year-old boy to a hospital in unknown condition, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

That address corresponds with the Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies, a Los Angeles Unified School District high school, according to KTLA5, which said that a 17-year-old high school reportedly overdosed on drugs.
