Anejo Cantina and Grill, Spicin' up the San Fernando Valley
Authentic Mexican Food at a Price You Can't Resist
Imagine a restaurant where everything on the menu is made fresh daily; where portions are large enough that you’ll wake up to leftovers; where live music and handcrafted cocktails are enjoyed in an ambient bar and lounge or on a second-floor patio; and now imagine that practically every entree on the menu is under $22. Stop imagining and head over to Añejo Cantina & Grill.
Located in Sherman Oaks with a commanding view of the Boulevard, Añejo is the hottest new restaurant in this part of town. Serving up traditional-style Mexican cuisine with some thoroughly modern touches, you’ll find flavorful chile rellenos, cheesy chicken enchiladas, flaky fish tacos along with house-made salsa and authentic guacamole prepared right at your table.
Accompanying your meal are classic cocktails, as well as house specialties, concocted with the utmost care and top-shelf ingredients. Among the classics, you’ll recognize the Sidecar, Mojito, Piña Colada and Old-Fashioned. While the specialty cocktails include the Pineapple Jalapeño Martini, Paloma and the Michelada Cubana among others. After-dinner drinks are not overlooked here, either. The list includes Mexican and Irish coffees, and a Key Lime Martini.

Lighting up the night, meanwhile, are Flamenco and Mariachi bands, which provide live music on Friday and Saturday evenings. And the venue is spectacular -- the fire pit, the night air, the vibe, and did I mention the margaritas?
Speaking of margaritas, Añejo’s happy hour -- every single day of the week, between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. -- showcases not only a list of affordable bites, including a $7 tostada salad, but $3 margaritas, too. If there’s a better way to beat the heat, I’m all ears.

Ample parking day or night (more than 70 spaces, including meters on Ventura) and no costly and time-consuming valet, as well as seating for over 150 hungry people mean it’s always a good time to drop in for a bite or a few drinks.
Of course, you can always go stand in line for $10 “tacos” and margaritas out of a bottle at the latest shoebox restaurant, where people care more about posting pictures of their food than actually eating it.
