Archery Hay Bales Go Up In Flames In Sepulveda Basin

Firefighters expecting to tackle a grass fire discovered hay bales being used for archery aflame in the Sepulveda Basin.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — Firefighters responded doused a quarter-acre fire in the Sepulveda Basin Sunday night. Crews expecting to battle a small grass fire discovered the blaze was actually a batch of hay bales ostensibly used for archery, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Ten firefighters responded to the reported fire at 15350 Burbank Blvd. in Sherman Oaks about 7:50 p.m., said LAFD spokesman Nicholas Prange.

It was unclear how long it took to extinguish the blaze. Neither was it clear if the area contained an actual archery range or was merely being used as such.
