Heroes and Legends: Discussion on the Charity Started Motown Artists

The Heroes and Legends (HAL) Awards started with a dream for celebrated Motown legendary
songwriter and Motown alumna Janie Bradford. It was her desire to provide scholarships to deserving young people from the Southern California area who desire a career in the performing arts. Seventeen years later, Bradford, who
wrote songs such as "Money, (That's What I Want) and the Jackie Wilson timeless classic, "Lonely Teardrops" is still going strong at accomplishing her dream with the help of many good friends including Claudette Robinson, who is one of the founding members of the Miracles.

The HAL Awards of The Heroes And Legends (HAL) Scholarship Foundation was created by celebrated songwriter and Motown Alumna, to aid "at risk"
youth and to publicly recognize others who share her vision.

The primary purpose of HAL is twofold:

To help talented young people in the community realize their lofty-but-attainable dreams of shaping careers for themselves in one of the many performing arts. This is accomplished by providing much needed scholarship
funds.

Spotlight positive role models from many diverse backgrounds, including leaders in the fields of music, theatre, motion pictures and business each year at the
Annual HAL Awards and Scholarship Dinner.

Ms. Bradford and Ms. Robinson will share strategic insights into how they achieve their mission to reach out to others and make positive impacts on the
lives of so many.

This is one event you won't want to miss! Feel free to share this invitation with your colleagues.

Janie Bradford is an American songwriter, most known for her tenure with Motown. With Berry Gordy, she co-wrote "Money (That's What I Want)", originally recorded by Barrett Strong and used by The Beatles on their second
album With The Beatles.

Other hits by Bradford include "Too Busy Thinking About My Baby" by Marvin Gaye (although originally by The Temptations), and also recorded by Phil
Collins, & "Your Old Standby" for Mary Wells. She worked at Motown for more than 25 years.

Currently, Bradford is the executive director of the Janie Bradford HAL Scholarship Fund and producer of the Heroes And Legends (HAL) Awards, an annual event that raises funds for performing arts scholarships while paying tribute
to entertainment legends, including many of Motown's biggest stars.

After marrying Miracles lead singer Smokey Robinson on November 7, 1959, Claudette Rogers Robinson became one of the major figures in Detroit's Motown record
label.

Smokey Robinson originally co-wrote the number-one Motown single "My Girl" with Miracles member Ronald White in dedication to Claudette, a song performed most notably by The Temptations. The song was originally intended to be recorded by The Miracles. The Robinsons have two children, both named in honor of Motown: Berry William Borope Robinson and Tamla Claudette Robinson.

Smokey Robinson and Claudette were divorced in 1986, after 27 years of marriage. Motown founder Berry Gordy gave Claudette the official title of the "First Lady of Motown", as noted in his autobiography, because, as a
member of the Miracles, (Motown's first group and first recording act), she was the first female artist ever signed to a Motown-affiliated record label (Tamla). Several years ago, Claudette began writing her autobiography, A
Miraculous Life, a book of her memoirs, and of her life with the Miracles.

Robinson is a board member of the national Rhythm & Blues Foundation and the HAL Awards. Her cousin, original Miracles member Bobby Rogers tours with
the current incarnation of the Miracles throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Claudette still performs and makes selected appearances with the Miracles.  The Miracles are being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April.
