Firefighter And 3 Others Hurt In Encino Apartment Fire

All four people — 3 men and an 80-year-old woman — were hospitalized.

ENCINO, CA — A Los Angeles firefighter and three others were hurt in a fire at an Encino apartment building Tuesday afternoon.

A Los Angeles Fire Department firefighter was hospitalized in fair condition after suffering an injury described as non-life-threatening. Three residents — a 45-year-old man, a 24-year-old man, and an 80-year-old woman — were also hospitalized in fair condition with possible smoke inhalation, according to an LAFD spokeswoman.

The fire was reported just before p.m. at the two-story apartment building at 5130 N. Yarmouth Ave., near the Ventura (101) Freeway, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Sixty-two firefighters contained the flames confined to a single unit, said Stewart. The fire was extinguished by 3:05 p.m.
