Firefighter Injured Battling Freeway Brush Fire

The 405 Freeway was shut down early Tuesday, and a firefighter had to be hospitalized battling a blaze along side the freeway: BREAKING.

LOS ANGELES, CA - A fire scorched some vegetation Tuesday near the San Diego (405) Freeway in the Van Nuys area and left a firefighter injured, authorities said.

Firefighters sent to the freeway near Saticoy Street about 4:40 a.m. extinguished the flames in about an hour and 15 minutes, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The firefighter was taken to a hospital for treatment of an injury that was not life-threatening, the LAFD reported.

The freeway was closed for a time in both directions while firefighters worked to douse the flames. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
