First Day Of Fall To Bring 105-Degree Heat To Sherman Oaks

LOS ANGELES, CA — Fall is here, but Mother Nature may not have gotten the memo. Parts of the San Fernando Valley will bake in triple digit heat Wednesday — the first day of fall. Day time highs are expected to reach 105 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

A heat advisory issued by the National Weather Service will be in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday in the San Fernando Valley. Other valley areas will also experience unusually warm weather, with temperatures about 10 degrees above normal, according to the NWS.

"The hottest air will mainly be the western San Fernando Valley in the typical hot spot with highs reaching 100+ degrees," forecasters said.

Conditions should change beginning Thursday, with a return of onshore flow and the arrival of a low-pressure system that will likely cool temperatures into Sunday. Forecasters said there could be a slight chance of showers in the region by Friday and Saturday.

As usual, forecasters warned residents to take precautions if they are outside in the heat, such as drinking plenty of liquids, avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun and checking on vulnerable relatives and neighbors.
