Grass Fire Along Sherman Oaks Busway Burns Half Acre, Disrupts Traffic

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — Firefighters stopped the spread of a half-acre grass fire burning along the G Line busway in Sherman Oaks Wednesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire broke out near 5600 N. Fulton Ave. at around 2 p.m., where arriving firefighters found about a quarter-acre of grass and trees burning along the busway, the LAFD said.

No structures were threatened, and firefighters attacked the blaze in offensive mode.

By 3 p.m., crews had stopped the fire's forward progress after it burned about half an acre of light grass and trees, according to the department. No structures were damaged.

Bus service was stopped within two blocks in each direction of the fire, and nearby street traffic was also affected.

Firefighters were expected to remain at the scene for an extended mop-up operation. Street traffic was expected to remain affected until the incident concluded, while Metro will restore bus service at its discretion once firefighting operations are complete.
