LAPD Arrests Man Suspected Of Trying To Rape Homeless Woman
Los Angeles Police Department investigators believe 30-year-old Wilfredo Lemus repeatedly tried to rape a sleeping homeless woman.
VAN NUYS, CA —Los Angeles police arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly trying to rape a homeless woman as she slept in a doorway in Van Nuys, authorities announced Friday.
Wilfredo Lemus was arrested Thursday on suspicion of rape and is being held by the LAPD in the San Fernando Valley on $100,000 bail.
The attack occurred just before 3 a.m. on Sept. 15 in the 6200 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department..

The victim was sleeping in the doorway of a closed business when a man approached her "and attempted to engage in forced vaginal sex with her," according to the LAPD."However, the victim defended herself against the attack. Minutes after the attack, the suspect returned after removing his pants and shoes and attempted a second sexual assault."
Anyone who believes they may be a victim of Lemus is urged to contact the LAPD.
