Local State Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian Honored as Legislative Champion by Easterseals California

Easterseals California has honored State Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian (D-California, Van Nuys) with a 2017 Assembly Champion Award during their recent Annual Easterseals California Awards Dinner held earlier this week in Sacramento.

Easterseals California (a grouping of all Easterseals affiliates in the state) created its Assembly Champion Award to honor public officials, both elected and appointed, for their work to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, and for all.

Assemblymember Nazarian lead the charge in California on disability issues, especially for individuals on the Autism Spectrum. He introduced AB 796, a bill eliminating the sunset language on an insurance mandate for health plans and health insurers to cover evidence-based autism services.

"This is a great victory for children and families on the autism spectrum and we thank him for being a champion for this issue," said Carlene Holden, executive vice president at Easterseals Southern California.

Nazarian was elected to the California Assembly in 2012, representing the 46th district including the San Fernando Valley communities of Van Nuys, Lake Balboa, Panorama City, and Sherman Oaks where he currently serves today. He serves as a committee member on the Health; Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism and Internet Media; Rules; Transportation and Joint Legislative Audit Committees.
