Local Young Actor Tackles Starring Roles and 6th Grade with Help of Online School
California Virtual Academy@ Los Angeles, a full-time online charter school supports young actor pursuing her passion
Sherman Oaks 6th grader Caitlin Carmichael has starred in three feature length movies, two short films and the TV show ABC’s “Agent Carter.” She just walked the red carpet again at the recent premier of the film Wiener Dogs Internationals at The Grove in Los Angeles last month.
Yet Caitlin still finds time to excel in school with the help of a full-time, online school at California Virtual Academy@ Los Angeles, an accredited online charter school for students in grades K-12. She learns full-time at California Virtual Academy@ Los Angeles, both online and offline, with the challenging K12 curriculum and the guidance of local California credentialed teachers.
I’m proud of all of our students who pursue their passions and proud that our educational model allows a student like Caitlin to be on set and travel the world while getting an individualized education. She’s been a professional actor since she was three, so Caitlin has been with the school since kindergarten.

Two of the other stars of Wiener Dogs Internationals have attended online schools as part of their education— Austin Anderson attended California Virtual Academy@ San Diego and the child lead in the movie, Julian Feder, attends K12 International Academy.
Online school’s individualized education can help young professional actors, and a variety of other students including athletes and performers, balance school with pursuing their passions. The learning environment can also support students who are advanced learners seeking a challenge and students that have struggled in a traditional school setting.
