More 405 Closures Scheduled for This Week in Sepulveda Pass

The project is one of the finishing touches to the $1.2 billion widening and modernization of the 405 between the 101 and the Santa Monica (10) Freeway.

Another series of four overnight closures is in store for the major freeway from the San Fernando Valley to the Westside of Los Angeles.

The southbound San Diego (405) Freeway will close from the Ventura (101) Freeway south to Getty Center, so crews can install permanent lane stripes and traffic speed detector loops, Metro said.

The closures will be in effect from midnight each night, Monday through Thursday. The southbound 405 will reopen by 5 the next mornings, Metro officials said today.

Northbound 405 traffic into the Valley will not be affected.

Southbound traffic will detour to Sepulveda Boulevard, but that signal is winding and has numerous traffic signals over Sepulveda Pass, and heavy traffic can be expected in the wee hours of the morning.
