Officer-Involved Shooting Reported in Van Nuys
A burglary in progress call led to the shooting.

VAN NUYS, CA - A suspect who allegedly stabbed one person, bit two others and attacked a third with an unknown object in a Van Nuys apartment building was shot and killed Sunday when a burglary in progress and assault with a deadly weapon call led to an officer-involved shooting, police said.
No officers were injured in the shooting, which occurred about 1 p.m. in the 6900 block of Kester Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The suspect, who was shot when he tried to attack one of the responding officers, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The stabbed victim, an approximately 50-year-old man, was taken to a hospital for treatment of multiple wounds, LAPD Capt. Lillian Carranza told reporters at the scene.

It was not immediately clear if the victims knew the suspect, who did not live at the address.
