Police Search For Armed Suspects On Ventura Boulevard

Authorities suspect a pair of armed men fled into a Ventura Boulevard parking structure in Sherman Oaks after brandishing a gun Friday.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — Los Angeles Police Department officers are searching for two men suspected of brandishing a handgun in a Ventura Boulevard assault in Sherman Oaks Friday afternoon. The search prompted the evacuation of a busy grocery store.

Los Angeles Police Department officers were called about 2 p.m. to the 14500 block of Ventura Boulevard, near Hazeltine Avenue, after receiving a report of a man who pulled a gun before fleeing with a man and a woman in a black hatchback into a nearby parking structure, according to the department's Officer Drake Madison.

A nearby Ralphs was evacuated as officers searched the parking structure for the three suspects.

At about 4:30 p.m., the search for two suspects was ongoing, according to Madison. Authorities were looking for two men, including a man with tattoos on his face. The pair were believed to be in a parking structure near the Ventura Boulevard Ralphs grocery store, according to Drake. They may be driving a black hatchback, he added.

One suspect, a woman, was detained by police at the scene, said Drake.
