SHERMAN OAKS, CA — Los Angeles Police shot and critically injured an elderly man who was armed with a knife in Sherman Oaks Monday night.
According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman, officers were called to the 4200 block of Matilija Avenue at about 11 p.m. Monday to respond to a report of domestic violence. When they arrived, they found a man armed with a steak knife, said Los Angeles police Officer Liliana Preciado.
According to Preciado, the officers ordered the man to drop the knife, but he refused. Next they used a Taser gun on him, but it failed to subdue him, she added. That is when the officer-involved shooting occurred, Preciado said.
