UPDATE: Suspicious Package at Sherman Oaks Mall Cleared

The suspicious package was reportedly in the Christmas decorating area.

A bomb squad determined that a suspicious package found today in a Christmas decorating area at a Sherman Oaks mall proved to be no threat to the public.

It was not immediately known what the package turned out to be, but it forced the temporary evacuation of the Westfield Fashion Square at 14006 Riverside Dr., said Officer Jane Kim of the LAPD’s Media Relations Section.

A bomb squad was dispatched to the scene at 7:40 a.m. and determined at about 10:30 a.m. that the package was no threat, Kim said.
