Former UCLA Player In Shootout With Cops In Sherman Oaks Standoff
A former UCLA basketball player exchanged fire with an LAPD SWAT Team during an hours-long standoff in Sherman Oaks.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — Police opened fire Friday on a man said to be a former UCLA basketball player, barricaded in a home in Sherman Oaks after he opened fire on officers from inside the residence, but it was not immediately clear if the suspect was hit.
ABC7 reported the suspect played for UCLA and briefly in the NBA. His name was not released.
Officers responded about 5 p.m. to the 4700 block of Tyrone Avenue, near Riverside Drive, to investigate a report of a man with a gun inside a residence, according to Officer Jeff Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

The suspect barricaded himself in the home, so police set up a perimeter and called in a SWAT team, Lee said.
