Water Main Break Forces Sepulveda Boulevard Closure

A water main break left some DWP customers without water, and it closed parts of Sepulveda and the Ventura Boulevard 405 off-ramp.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA -- A break in a pipe to one building Sunday in Sherman Oaks left eight Los Angeles Department of Water and Power commercial customers without water service until early this evening, the utility said.

A pipe providing water to one building broke in the area of the 15300 block of West Ventura Boulevard about 10 a.m., according to utility spokeswoman Christy Holland.

Initially, it was reported as a main break by the utility but that turned out to be incorrect, Holland said.

Utility crews fixed the pipe and restored service to all customers about 6 p.m., Holland said.

The burst pipe temporarily forced the following road closures, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department: Sepulveda Boulevard from Ventura Boulevard to Dickens Street and the Ventura Boulevard off-ramp from the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway.
