Worker Crushed By Lumber In Sherman Oaks Construction Accident
The man was trapped, but his co-workers freed him and gave him CPR. Now he is fighting for his life.
SHERMAN OAKS, CA — A construction worker is in grave condition after being trapped under lumber in an industrial accident in Sherman Oaks Thursday. The worker was rescued and rushed to a local trauma center, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The accident happened at 14241 W. Ventura Boulevard shortly before 9 a.m., said Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The worker became trapped for several minutes, and his co-workers worked to pull the wood off of him. They were able to free him and began giving the man CPR following the instructions from a 911 dispatcher over the telephone, Prange said. Firefighters and paramedics arrived and took over the effort.

Details about the accident and the person involved were not immediately clear.
The mayor's Crisis Response Team was sent to the location to support workers, he said.
