
Pasadena resident and publisher of the News Enterprise, Lon Wahlberg was chosen by the Dana Farber Marathon Challenge team to compete in the 2012 Boston Marathon. Wahlberg's selection to the Marathon Challenge team was one out thousands of nationwide applicants to compete in what is referred to as the Mecca of all marathon events. The Boston Marathon is an event in which runners must qualify in order to compete. He will join a team compiled of marathon runners located throughout the United States.
Wahlberg will be working with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in raising funds and awareness benefiting the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research.
Wahlberg, 48, is a competitive runner who has competed in numerous distance running events including the Honolulu Marathon, Rose Bowl Half Marathon, and the daunting Mount Wilson Trail Race. He just set a PR in the Long Beach Marathon Sunday, October 9 with a time of 4:29:28.
