Envisioning Rotary's Next Three Years
The Rotary Club of Sierra Madre is working to develop its strategy for the next three years, from membership to fundraising, community service and more.
Our first Club Assembly of the year was a recap of the ideas that came up at our vision planning session in June. President Tom took the summary of the session, which was prepared by the Unells and reviewed it with us.
President Tom further explained that the Board had reviewed the ideas that came from the session, and approved sending them out to the various committees for action.
The committees will then examine those goals, determine how they’ll be accomplished over the next three years, and develop a plan of execution. If a committee decides that one of these goals is unrealistic or unattainable, it will report that to the Board as well.

This is what the committees will be working on:
Membership—grow to 50 members; use community projects and Interact to develop new members.

Fundraising—net $25,000 from the Program Book; organize a Green Car Show to raise $50,000.
Community Service/Education—Develop a job shadow program; double the number of RYLA and TLC scholarships/vocational mentor program.
Club Administration—Develop contingency plans for all leadership positions
Happy Bucks
Then, we moved on to Happy Bucks. Peggy thanked Marilyn and Pete for arranging a police ride along and a Seabiscuit Tour at Santa Anita Park for Arturo; Voki thanked Marilyn for a productive International Committee meeting, and is glad people are beginning to use the Google calendar; Walter and Nancy are taking a little vacation; Marilyn and Russ are going to Pennsylvania; Rudy rode 60 miles on his bike last Sunday and is training for a 100 mile ride in Palm Springs early next year; Susanne went to the Rose Bowl Swap Meet and logged 10,000 steps on her pedometer; Christy-Joy has a new puppy—it’s a beagle shepherd mix; Mike is preparing for another mission trip to Mexico, and has an MD, two dentists, and other chiropractors lined up to go; Louise's surgery went well and they closed the incision with Super Glue. She’s also happy to report that “To Kill a Mockingbird,” the current production at the Sierra Madre Playhouse, is packing them in.
New Vine Template
Thanks to Susanne for redesigning the Vine template. The calendar section is longer now, appropriate for reflecting everything we’ve got going on. Better still—all committee chairs and members are listed on page three. Have you got an idea for a new project, or a new idea for an existing project? The information on page 3 tells you with whom you should be speaking. Thanks, Susanne!
Mini Grants Now Available
You’ve all received information about the availability of mini-grants again this year. Thanks to Susanne, the application is now available on our website, and can be completed and submitted from there. The criteria are also detailed on the application page.
