Coloratura soprano Lori Ann Fuller Piscioneri, who has been a soloist with LA Opera and the LA Phil, sings with Pasadena Community Orchestra

Coloratura soprano Lori Ann Fuller Piscioneri, who has been a soloist with L.A. Opera and the LA Phil, and has performed with numerous opera companies and symphony orchestras throughout the U.S. and Europe, joins the Pasadena Community Orchestra on Friday, November 14th, to open the orchestra’s 32nd season. The program includes four gems of coloratura opera literature. “O mio babbino caro” from Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and “Musetta’s Waltz” from his La Boheme contain some of Puccini’s most beautiful melodies. And ”Regnava nel silenzio” from Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and “Je veux vivre” from Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette showcase coloratura virtuosity in their vocal acrobatics. The orchestra performs four works on its own: Sibelius’s deeply patriotic Finlandia, the tender and lush overture from (the original!) Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, the distinctively Czech “Polka” from Smetana’s opera, The Bartered Bride, and Rossini’s William Tell Overture (which is actually about the Swiss countryside, not the Lone Ranger!). Audience members may meet the soloist and other musicians at a reception following the concert. The concert is at First Church of the Nazarene, 3700 E. Sierra Madre Blvd., Pasadena, at 8:00 p.m. For further information, please contact us at 626.445.6708 or publicity@pcomusic.org, or visit us online at www.pcomusic.org and https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pasadena-Community-Orchestra/125809577468516.
