Developers to Present Plan for Skilled Nursing Facility

Wednesday night meeting will be the Sierra Madre public's first opportunity to give feedback on the proposed senior housing project.

A neighborhood meeting will be held tonight regarding a proposed development for the long-vacant Skilled Nursing Facility property located at 245 W. Sierra Madre Blvd, across from .

The proposed development is a 58,000 square-foot, two-story building intended to house up to 96 senior citizens.

The meeting starts at 7:15 p.m. (though doors open at 6:30 p.m.) in the Sierra Madre Room at the .

Fountain Square Development, the would-be developers, will give a presentation on the project and that will be followed by a public input period.

Fountain Square Development’s Executive Director Billy Shields first presented the proposal at a City Council meeting in March, 2011.

This is not the first time a developer has come to the city with plans for the property. In 2010, a developer pushed plans for an 18-unit residential development.

However, that deal fell through before moving far enough to warrant a public meeting.
