2012 Wistaria Festival in Sierra Madre

The annual Wistaria Festival will take place in Sierra Madre on Sunday, paying homage to the town's acre-long, 250-ton, Guinness Book of World Record-holding wistaria vine.

The festival will also feature tours of the historic Pinney House, 150 craft vendors, a student art sale, food and live music.

Admission is free to see the vine, though shuttle tickets to get to its location, which is at a private residence in Sierra Madre, are $10. The shuttle will stop at The Pinney House on the way, too.

The festival has drawn 10,000 visitors in years past, all eager to feast their eyes on the lavender-blossom-laden boughs of this historic flora. The vine was first planted in 1894 by William and Alice Brugman, and today holds the record for the "World's Largest Blossoming Plant."

The Sierra Madre Post Office will also be offering a special on Sunday at the festival, and for 30 days after upon request.

Shuttle tickets for the event are limited, and attendees are advised to purchase theirs in advance from www.wistariatickets.com
