ÆSOPERA, an original pentaptych chamber opera from the classic fables of Aesop at the Carrie Hamilton Theatre Pasadena Playhouse
Tragedy strikes and comedy ensues when a princess becomes a queen and learns that with great power comes great controversy. A poor fisherman is granted three wishes, but that may not be enough for two daughters. A lion sacrifices his claws for love. An inventor tries to outwit fate, and amphibian voters elect themselves a carnivorous queen. Aesopera is set in mythic Greece. With a modern flair, these lush and lyrical mini-operas take new inspiration from the original Fabulist of Ancient Greece.

“I reserve the right to Rave about performances I truly love. Aesopera is melodic and lyrical, full of lush harmonies and textures that serve the stories first, supporting their drama, their humor and the deep emotions portrayed onstage.” Lauri D. Goldenhersh (Lauri’s List)
