Upwards of 3,000 are expected to walk the wooded outdoor Stations of the Cross on Good Friday at Mater Dolorosa Passionist Retreat Center. The path is approximately the same distance Jesus walked on the road to Calvary.
Photo Opportunity: Perched on 83 wooded acres at the upper foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, Mater Dolorosa Retreat Center commands a sweeping view of the San Gabriel Valley. The early evening provides a dramatic setting for visitors who come to mark this holy day by walking the 14 Stations of the Cross.
Who: The Passionist Community at Mater Dolorosa has been providing retreats since 1926. Hosted programs are available for high school groups, other Catholic programs as well as many ecumenical groups. More than 10,000 individuals grace the retreat center and grounds annually which include men, women married couples, Archdiocese of Los Angeles clergy and laity, high school and college students.
