Rose Bowl Wildlife 'Fire-Proofed' for July 4
The Sierra Madre Fire Department helped fire-proof the vegetation around the Rose Bowl Wednesday in preparations for the Rose Bowl's Independence Day celebration.

Ever get a little nervous that fireworks displays on July 4 will accidentally set off a forest fire? In our neck of the woods, it’s a valid concern.
One of the largest July 4 fireworks displays will take place at the nearby Rose Bowl, and local firefighters teamed up Wednesday to spray the surrounding wilderness with 20,000 gallons of Phos-Chek, a special fire retardant that also contains fertilizer, according to the Pasadena Star-News. The and Pasadena Fire Department were on hand to get the job done.
The Star-News posted a photo gallery of the fire trucks and firefighters spraying down the area. Check it out here.
