Guide to Mount Wilson Trail Race on Saturday
The 104th annual Mount Wilson Trail Race will take place on Saturday in Sierra Madre. See how you can participate in the festivities, even if you're not a registered runner.
On Saturday morning 300 runners will descend upon Sierra Madre for the 104th annual , which is regarded as one of the most challenging trail races in the country. It's also one of the most popular- this year's race sold out in a matter of hours.
If you're one of the participants, you already know what you're in for: an 8.6 mile trek with a 2,100 feet elevation change that leads you from downtown Sierra Madre up the steep and often-narrow , then back down again. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. sharp, and the first runner will likely cross the finish line around 8:30 a.m.

Morning Beer and Wine Garden

The Mount Wilson Trail Race beer and wine garden will open up at 9:00 a.m. sharp and continue until 11:30 a.m. in downtown Sierra Madre. That's a whole new kind of happy hour.
Trail Race Souvenirs
Get 'em while they last! Mount Wilson Trail Race mugs, running socks, beanies, vehicle stickers, heavy-duty sweatshirts and a few fleece sweatshirts will be available for purchase.
Kids' Art Show and Local Vendors
An adorable art show featuring original work by Sierra Madre kids will be on display. There will also be tents and tables set up by local vendors.
Free Kids' Fun Run
Kids ages three through 15 are invited to race from Kersting Court up Baldwin Ave. and back again for the . The course is one mile. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. sharp, and the race begins at 7:45 a.m. The first 250 participants to sign up will receive a free t-shirt.
How to Get There/Where to Park
If you're coming from out of town, take the 210 Freeway to the Baldwin Ave. exit and head towards Baldwin Ave. Parking is available on the street or in the public lots on Baldwin Ave. and on Montecito Ct. and Mariposa Ave.
Runners will start near the intersection of Sierra Madre Blvd. and Baldwin Ave. in Sierra Madre.
