KFC Makeover Moving Quickly, New Mexican Restaurant to Open Soon
Details are scarce, but contractor says store should be open in about three weeks.
With a fresh coat of paint inside and out plus new floors and countertops, the building that formerly housed Sierra Madre’s now-shuttered Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise is almost unrecognizable. A large sign on the front window now advertises a Mexican Restaurant “Coming Soon,” and things moved one step in that direction Saturday when the wrapping paper was removed from the windows, revealing an almost fully-renovated interior.
Work crews have been laboring tirelessly both inside and out of the establishment ever since building owner Robert Gavidia . While details about the new establishment--such as a name for the restaurant and and specifics about the menu--have been hard to come by, a foreman directing work inside the building on Friday, Feb. 12, said he expected the restaurant would be open to the taco-hungry Sierra Madre public “about three weeks from now.”
While the contractor did not want his name used, he referred Patch to two names listed on the door as contacts for those seeking more information about the new restaurant.

Interest in the details new store is obviously running high, as the mailbox for the first contact, Mrs. Lourdes Kreefft of South Pasadena, has been full and not accepting new messages for more than one week. The other contact listed on the door, Moises Larios of Chino Hills, has unfortunately not yet returned calls seeking comment.
Stay tuned to Sierra Madre Patch for more information on the new restaurant as it becomes available.
