There are three ways to access the documents from the city’s homepage, www.cityofsierramadre.com:
- Click on “Current City Documents” in the top toolbar
- Click on “Search Current City Documents” in the center of the homepage
- Mouse over “I Want To” and click on “Current City Documents” under the heading “Find.”
Then, click on the type of document you want to find in the scrollbox and enter the date you’re interested in. Residents can also search by project name, ordinance and resolution numbers.
Right now, only current city docs are on the server. During phase two of this project, all existing city documents will be available online, too.
The search tool looked a little daunting at first, but after a few minutes, we had it down.
The availability of documents online has been months in the making. The City Council originally approved the idea and the funds to license the software in August 2011.
How much is this costing?
The City Council approved $75,000 in funds last year for this project to happen.
A new computer server was purchased for $5,000 and there was a one-time software licensing cost of $30,000. The council also approved up to $40,000 for transferring the documents electronically.
The software being used is the Tyler Content Management System.
