'Morning's at Seven' to Open at Playhouse
The Sierra Madre Playhouse's next production will be "Morning's at Seven," a comedy that focuses on a dysfunctional family. The show opens March 30.

The is gearing up for its next production, a comedy directed by longtime resident director Bob Hakman.
“Morning’s at Seven” portrays an extended family living in close proximity, anchored in place by four aging sisters, Cora, Arry, Esther and Ida. This is a classic, comically dysfunctional family that thrives on secrets and deceptions. Their routine is upset when the youngest of the family, 40-year-old Homer, who still lives with parents Ida and Carl, brings home his long-time love, Myrtle, for a visit..

Actually, despite the maneuverings of the sisters, it’s the men who are the true eccentrics in the family.

Hakman directs a cast that includes (in alphabetical order): Roxanne Barker, Jack Chansler, Guy Crawford, Dwayne David, Gloria Denison, Sandra Hakman, Don Savage, Jinny Wilcott and Patricia Wylie.
“Morning’s at Seven” was first produced on Broadway in 1939. Other works by playwright Paul Osborn (1901-1988) include the stage adaptations of “The World of Suzie Wong,” “A Bell for Adano,” “On Borrowed Time,” and “La Contessa,” and original plays “The Vinegar Tree,” “The Widow and the Colonel” and “Tomorrow’s Monday.”
The show opens March 30 and runs through May 12 on Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sundayt at 2:30 p.m. There will be no performances on April 1.
The Friday, March 30 gala opening performance is preceded by a champagne reception and light buffet at 7:15 p.m.
Regular tickets are $25, while seniors (65+) and students (13-17) can get tickets for $17. Children 12 and under are $15.
