Photos: Turkey Vultures in Sierra Madre
A flock of Turkey Vultures stopped by Ramona Ave. in Sierra Madre and stayed overnight. Check out photos of these incredible birds.
Reader and resident Soozee Van Dyke Woods welcomed a flock of new neighbors on Ramona Ave. Thursday night: Turkey Vultures.
She was kind enough to share the photos she captured with Patch, and wrote us this note about what she saw:
About 50 birds arrived in two groups around between 5:00 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday. They roosted close together in the tops of the trees overnight. As the sun rose this morning (Friday) many of them opened their wings to absorb the sun's warmth. Then around 9:30 a.m., without any sound or warning, most of them lifted to the sky and floated north in lazy circles toward the foothills. It was an awesome sight.
