Police Blotter: Attempted Burglary, Arrests

Noise disturbance, stolen bicycle, warrant arrests and six more identity thefts were among the most notable crimes in Sierra Madre last week.

The following information was provided by the Sierra Madre Police Department.

During the week of Sunday, January 29, to Saturday February 4, the responded to approximately 229 calls for service. These were the most notable. See crimereports.com for updated information. 

Noise Disturbance Leads to Arrest

An officer contacted a 22-year old Sierra Madre resident for noise disturbance at 1:51 a.m. in the 400 blk. of E. Sierra Madre Blvd. on February 4. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had a $30,000 warrant and was transported to Arcadia Police Department.

Attempted Residential Burglary

On Monday January 30 at 8:19 p.m., police responded to an attempted residential burglary in the 500 blk. of Ramona Ave. This case involves an unknown suspect(s) attempting to gain entry into a house by removing the window screen. No entry was made inside the house.

Stolen Bicycle

An unlocked bicycle was allegedly stolen from a residence in the 300 blk. N. Sunnyside Ave around 5:22 p.m. on Wednesday January 31.

Suspicious Circumstances on Michillinda

This case involves a house that is under construction in the 10 blk. of S. Michillinda Ave. At 12:04 p.m. on Thursday February 2, police responded to reports that a window was found broken and both front and rear dead bolt doors were found open. It appeared that no entry was made into the house.        

Scratch Marks on a Car

On Thursday February 4 at 1:09 p.m. police responded to a case that involved an unknown suspect(s) scratching a mark on the victim’s car.

Warrant Arrests

On January 29 at 12:48 a.m. an officer stopped a 25-year old Pasadena motorist in the 3200 blk. of E. Foothill Blvd. for a Vehicle Code violation.  Further investigation revealed that the driver had $126,000 in warrants for his arrest through the Pasadena Police Department.  The driver was arrested and transported to Pasadena Police Department Jail.  

On January 31 at 1:55 PM a suspicious suspect was contacted at Fairview Ave and Sierra Keys Dr. Further investigation revealed that the subject had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.  The 25-year old Sierra Madre resident was transported to Pasadena Police Department Jail.

Driver and Passenger had Warrants

An officer stopped a 33-year old Pasadena motorist for a Vehicle Code violation at the 210 freeway and Rosemead Blvd at 11:41 p.m. on February 4.  Further investigation revealed that both vehicle occupants had warrants.  Both were residents from Pasadena, and were cited and released in the field. 

Six Reported Identity Thefts

Following the discovery of a device used to collect credit and debit card info from customers at Valero gas station in December 2011, over 30 identity thefts have been reported to Sierra Madre Police.

Residents who used a credit or debit card at Valero during the month of December are urged to check their bank statements for fraudulent activity and report it to police.

E. Foothill Blvd.  10:27 a.m. Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc.  This incident involves the unauthorized use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.

Monday January 30:

7:02 p.m.- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc.  This incident involves the unauthorized use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.

Wednesday January 31:

9:20 a.m.- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc.  This incident involves the unauthorized use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.

Thursday February 2:

4:21 p.m.- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc.  This incident involves the unauthorized use of the victim’s social security number. 

Friday February 3:

11:49 p.m.- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc.  This incident involves the unauthorized use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.

4:25 p.m.- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc.  This incident involves the unauthorized use of the victim’s credit/debit card number obtained from the Valero gas station.
