Police Blotter: Grand Theft, Vandalism & Stolen Vehicle

During the week of Sunday, Dec. 25 to Saturday, Dec. 31, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 233 calls for service.

Unlicensed Driver, False Registration

Monday, Dec. 26, 8:17 a.m. - Officers stopped a motorist for a Vehicle Code violation and discovered the suspect was driving without a valid driver's license and false vehicle registration tabs. The motorist was cited for the misdemeanor violations and released on a written promise to appear in court.

Marijuana Possession

Tuesday, Dec. 27, 12:22 a.m. - An officer saw a pedestrian on the 100 block of Sycamore Street in Arcadia throw away a plastic baggy and glass pipe. The officer stopped the pedestrian and discovered the pedestrian was trying to conceal possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. The pedestrian was cited and released on a written promise to appear in court.

Tuesday, Dec. 27, 7:34 a.m. - An officer saw two people on the 100 block of Suffolk Avenue smoking marijuana. Officers arrived on scene and detained the two suspects. Further investigation revealed they were in possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. They were cited and released on a written promise to appear in court.

Vandalism

Tuesday, Dec. 27, 7:53 a.m. -  Officers were summoned to a vandalism investigation at a on Baldwin Avenue. Between 9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 26 and 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, police reported that an unidentified suspect(s) vandalized a gas pump, causing approximately $100 in damage.

Grand Theft

Tuesday, Dec. 27, 11:39 a.m. - Officers responded to a jewelry theft investigation on the 600 block of Valle Vista Drive. The theft allegedly occurred between Wednesday, Nov. 16 and Monday, Nov. 28, when the victim had several contracts working on her property. The value of the loss is estimated at $15,000.

Stolen Vehicle

Wednesday, Dec. 28, 6:45 a.m. - Between 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27 and 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17, a resident on the 600 block of Edgeview Drive reported that his '12 Toyota pickup truck was stolen. Alhambra Police located and recovered the stolen vehicle.

Resisting Arrest, Battery on a Police Officer

Wednesday, Dec. 28, 8:42 p.m. - An officer stopped a female motorist for a Vehicle Code violation at the intersection of Sierra Madre Boulevard and Michillinda Avenue. The motorist refused to sign the written promise to appear in court, leaving officers no choice but to affect an arrest, during which time, the female struck an officer. The motorist was arrested for resisting arrest and battery on a police officer. She was transported to Pasadena Police Department jail of booking.

Unlicensed Driver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Saturday, Dec. 31, 12:05 a.m. - An officer stopped a motorist for a Vehicle Code violation at the intersection of Hill and Maple Avenues in Pasadena. Further investigation revealed the driver was driving without a valid driver’s license and his female passenger was in possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver was cited and released on a written promise of appear. The passenger was arrested and transported to Pasadena Police Department jail for booking.  

Public Intoxication

Saturday, Dec. 31, 2:09 a.m. - Officers responded to a disturbance call and found a male suspect hiding in the bushes of a residence on the 200 block of Mariposa Avenue. Officers discovered the man was under the influence of alcohol and was unable to care for himself or others. He was arrested for public intoxication and transported to Pasadena Police Department jail for booking. 

Saturday, Dec. 31, 6:50 p.m. - Officers saw a man sitting on a public bench on Sierra Madre Boulevard, who appeared to be unresponsive. Further investigation revealed the man was under the influence of alcohol and was unable to care for himself or others. He was arrested for public intoxication and transported to Pasadena Police Department jail for booking.

Saturday, Dec. 31, 7:13 a.m. - An officer stopped a motorist for a Vehicle Code violation at the intersection of Sierra Madre Boulevard and Hasting Ranch Drive in Pasadena. Further investigation revealed the motorist was driving without a valid driver’s license. The motorist was cited for the misdemeanor violation and released on a written promise to appear in court.
