The play highlights issues such as growing industrialization and immigration.
Now in it's second week at the , the Pulitzer Prize play “Our Town” is often considered the masterpiece of its productive playwright, Thornton Wilder (1897-1975). In addition to the 1938 award for "Our Town," Wilder also won two other Pulitzers, one for the comedy “The Skin of Our Teeth” and another for the novel “The Bridge of San Luis Rey.”
From the release detaling the production:
“Our Town” chronicles life in Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire between the years of 1901 and 1913. It’s a gentler, simpler time, and the action of the play will conclude a couple of years before global events that will change the world forever. But for now, the audience gets to observe and relish the daily routine of the residents of Grover’s Corners, a town where everybody knows everyone else, and people tend to stay put in the town in which they were born. Attention focuses on two neighboring families, the Gibbs and the Webbs. Young George Gibb and Emily Webb will grow up together, begin to feel deeply towards each other, and ultimately make decisions that will affect the rest of their lives.
The cast of “Our Town” includes (in alphabetical order): Paul Bond, Ryan Burke, Ray Chao, Lila Dupree, Billy Helmstettler, Christian LeBano, Lynn Ann Leveridge, Brandon McCluskey, Tanner Morse, Don Savage, William Stamey, Tamiko Takon-Donegal and Amelia White.
