Removal, Replanting of Kersting Trees on Agenda

A large California Pepper Tree has been flagged for removal in Kersting Court. Tonight, two city commissions will discuss its removal and replacement.

Tonight the Tree Advisory Commission and Community Services Commission will hold a special joint meeting at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall, 232 W Sierra Madre Blvd., to discuss the removal the large California Pepper Tree that lives on the green in Kersting Court. The TAC and CSC will also discuss replacement of this tree and the several other Pepper Trees that were lost in Kersting Court during the 2011 windstorm.

The Pepper tree was flagged for removal in January after the TAC and an arborist deemed it was a public hazard. The tree lost a large branch the night before the 2011 windstorm storm and is currently being held up by large poles.

After the joint meeting, the CSC will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the TAC will meet at 7:00 p.m. The public is welcome to attend any of these meetings.
