Sierra Madre Native Serving Overseas Takes Time to Remember

A Sierra Madre native helped stress the importance of observing Sept. 11 this week to troops in Afghanistan.
United States Army Colonel Mario Diaz, a commander of the fourth brigade of the tenth Mountain Division and a Task Force Patriot, addressed his soldiers on Sept. 11 during the brigade’s 9/11 remembrance ceremony at Forward Operating Base Gamberi.
The base is located in Laghman Province, Afghanistan.
