The Best Local Sandwich Shops

Whether your looking for a hot panini or a chicken salad sandwich, we've picked five area spots that will fulfill your sandwich craving.

Mary’s Market

Located in the quaint Sierra Madre Canyon, Mary’s Market has been the go-to eatery for locals for decades. The menu is simple here, with a variety of hot and cold sandwiches as the specialty for lunch or an early dinner. Sierra Madre Patch Editor John Stephens particularly loves the Chicken Salad Sandwich. The food is very satisfying and the prices are even better. There’s free wi-fi, if you must work while you eat. Mary’s is a great place to escape the stresses of work, if even for the few minutes of your lunch break. Bring your hiking boots and burn off some calories with a scenic hilly walk after your meal. Or, order a warm soft chocolate chip cookie for a quick dessert.

Bean Town

Yes, Bean Town is the beloved coffee shop with free wi-fi and friendly faces in Sierra Madre. Everyone in town knows about it and many spend so many hours here reading, working, conversing, they may very well think of it as a second home. Aside from coffee and baked treats, Bean Town also serves up some tasty sandwiches. Some say they are more gourmet and enjoyable than those of surrounding restaurants. That says a lot for a coffee shop and we must agree that a Bean Town does offer top-of-the-line sandwiches. Chose from a variety of cold sandwiches, paninis or delicious wraps.

Stacked Sandwich

A fast favorite of Arcadia residents, Stacked is not for the faint of heart. Opened in 2009, the sandwiches are, wait for it--stacked, and you get your money’s worth. Speaking of, they range from $7 to $9 and come in both hot and cold varieties. The owner’s at this shop have mastered the sandwich, without any frills. The end result is a large mass of beauty which any lucky customer has the fortune of devouring. There’s a Veggie Bomb, complete with avocado, cucumber, red onions, roasted red bell pepper, cheddar, sprouts, and garlic-mayo, for the loathers of meat. If you want to go against the sandwich-loving masses that flock here, Stacked offers gigantic 1/3-pound beef burgers that won’t disappoint.
