• Juan Rosales killed in hit-and-run crash on Erringer Road (newsline.com) — A 55-year-old pedestrian, Juan Huerta Rosales, was killed when a driver struck him in the 7-Eleven parking lot at 1369 Erringer Road in Simi Valley on August 31 and then fled before later being arrested on felony hit-and-run charges. Authorities say Rosales died at the scene, and legal experts note his family may consider a wrongful death claim while investigators examine factors like lighting, visibility, and road design.
   

• Charity Wiley Sentenced to 15 Years to Life for Ventura County's First Fentanyl Murder Conviction (latinocc.com) — A Reseda woman has been sentenced to 15 years to life after supplying fentanyl-laced drugs that killed Devin Kastler at a home in unincorporated Simi Valley, in what prosecutors call Ventura County’s first fentanyl murder conviction. Simi Valley police helped VC FOCUS trace the lethal “tranq-dope” back to her large-scale operation, which investigators say stockpiled pounds of narcotics, cash, and firearms.
