• Trial Underway for Man Accused of Murdering Close Friend (mynewsla.com) — A Riverside County jury trial is beginning for a 22-year-old Cathedral City man accused of fatally shooting his longtime friend during a late-night outing in a remote part of Sky Valley. Prosecutors say he was familiar with the handgun and fired it toward the victim, while the defense maintains the shooting was accidental and has sought a reduced charge.
• Pea-sized hail predicted with thunderstorms in Coachella Valley and San Gorgonio Pass Near Banning Monday (dailybulletin.com) — A National Weather Service alert in effect this evening warns that strong thunderstorms could bring pea-sized hail, 40 mph gusts, and dangerous lightning to Sky Valley and nearby Coachella Valley communities. Residents are urged to seek safe shelter indoors, avoid corded electronics and plumbing, and use extra caution on wet roads, where flooding, slick conditions, and reduced visibility can quickly create hazardous driving situations.
