The county will conduct a nationwide search for a permanent leader, while Sherwood oversees a $256 million budget and services that supply water to hundreds of thousands of Sonoma and Marin residents.

Local vector control officials urge residents in Sonoma and Marin counties to report dead birds, use effective repellents, and eliminate standing water, noting all services are provided at no extra cost to property owners.

• Nearly $100 million in funding approved for Highway 37 improvements (pressdemocrat.com) — Nearly $100 million in state funding is moving forward to upgrade Highway 37, a key route linking Sonoma County with Marin, Solano and Napa.
