Injured Bicyclist Rescued From Hood Mountain Regional Park

The cyclist was unable to walk and was extricated with assistance from a longline from a helicopter.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A bicyclist was rescued Sunday after crashing and becoming injured at Hood Mountain Regional Park in Sonoma County, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Just before 1:30 p.m., the Sheriff's Office and the Santa Rosa Fire Department along with the Sonoma Valley Fire District responded to the park east of Santa Rosa after a cyclist crashed and sustained a leg injury.

The cyclist was unable to walk and was extricated with assistance from a longline from a helicopter.

With the assistance of a bystander, the victim was carried to a nearby opening and secured in the hot seat rescue device, the Sheriff's Office said.

The victim was then flown via longline to a nearby parking lot and transferred to an awaiting ambulance for further care.
