SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Cal Fire crews responded to a small vegetation fire in north Sonoma County Monday afternoon.
The fire broke out near Gibson Ridge, about 7 miles west of Lake Sonoma, in a remote area north of Stewarts Point-Skaggs Springs Road.
The fire was referred to by Cal Fire as the Wicker Fire. It was at about 1.5 acres when air drops first began at about 2:15 p.m., according to Cal Fire.
Ground crews from Cal Fire's Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit (LNU) were trying to gain access to the fire Monday afternoon.
Air support, including helicopters and air tankers, kept the flames from growing beyond about 2 acres as crews attempted to get in position as of Cal Fire's last update at 3:15 p.m.
There were no reports of threatened structures at that time.
