SONOMA VALLEY, CA — Autumn has arrived in Sonoma County. But the days ahead are for savoring the lingering warm days and nights with a taste of Campari and Polynesia, community fundraisers, a downtown arts festival, a pizzaeria opening, and an evening of gallery visits.
Events stretch from Sonoma and Petaluma to Penngrove and Healdsburg.
A flood-relief fundraiser today opens the week's calendar.
Sonoma Valley's Sherpa and Nepali community will raise money today for relief and rescue efforts after floods in central Nepal killed more than 1,000 people and left thousands of others missing.
The Sherpa and Nepali community of Sonoma Valley will host the free fundraiser at 4:30 p.m. today at the Sonoma Veterans Memorial Hall, 126 First St. W. in Sonoma.
The event will offer wine and food while collecting support for flood relief and rescue efforts in central Nepal.
Little Saint will host its Cosmic Campari Party from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight.
Bartenders from Little Saint, Matheson, Lo & Behold, and Propagation will prepare their versions of the Negroni.
The $20 ticket includes Negroni tastings, bites, a DJ, and a tarot card reader. Organizers invite guests to wear clothing with celestial inspiration.
A portion of ticket sales will benefit Slow Food Sonoma County North and its mission to foster a more equitable and sustainable food-and-beverage world.
Leolo Pizza will mark its official opening Thursday, at 203 N. McDowell Blvd. in Petaluma.
The restaurant serves rectangular Roman pizza al taglio with slow-fermented organic sourdough crust, along with panuozzo sandwiches. Dinner hours typically run from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The Healdsburg Arts Festival will bring more than 35 artists to Center Street downtown from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
The artists will be displaying fine art, crafts, and jewelry. The free festival will also feature poetry, music, and food trucks.
The Healdsburg Center for the Arts will present the festival in partnership with the City of Healdsburg's Community Services Department. Vendors can contact the arts center at info@healdsburgcenterforthearts.org.
Admission is free.
ArtNite Healdsburg will bring more than 20 galleries together from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 1 and then repeat at same time on first Thursdays.
Visitors can pick up an ArtNite passport at any downtown gallery, visit participating galleries, and collect stamps. Participating restaurants and wineries will offer passport holders a free treat, pour, or other perk, while downtown boutiques and stores may also offer treats.
The event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month through December. The ArtNite website provides a gallery map and lists participating restaurants and wineries.
Hawaiian food, Polynesian dancing, and the look an feel of Polynesia will light up Penngrove Park during the Penngrove Luau from 2:30 to 7 p.m on Sunday.
Volunteer chefs from the Penngrove Social Firemen will prepare kalua pork, Hawaiian chicken, sides, and dessert.
The Taimalietane Islands of Polynesia dancers will perform after dinner.
Founded in 1946, the nonprofit Penngrove Social Firemen owns and maintains Penngrove Park and the Penngrove Community Club. The social hour and no-host bar begins 2:30 p.m. with dinner at 4 p.m. Admission: $30 for adults; $15 for children ages 6–12; free for children 5 and younger
