200,000 Illegal Fireworks Seized in South Gate

Five people were also arrested. The contraband fireworks are worth $4 million.

SOUTH GATE, CA - Authorities seized about 200,000 pounds of illegal fireworks worth as much as $4 million and arrested five people in South Gate, it was announced Tuesday.

The seizure made Monday was the result of an investigation by the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Arson Task Force, South Gate police and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The suspects were arrested by South Gate police, who said the fireworks were found in a warehouse and adjacent trailers.
