Chivas USA Announces $5,000 Scholarship Penalty Contest

The penalty competition will take place this Friday.

Chivas USA, a professional soccer team, will be hosting a penalty contest for children between the ages of 6 and 17 before the match with the Chicago Fire this Friday.

“The participant that hits the cross bar, and keeps on doing so until it is just them standing, will be the winner, ” said Pablo Troncoso, account manager for Chivas USA.

The participating child or teenager will have one shot with each turn to hit the crossbar.In order to participate in this event the children will need to bring a ticket to game . The prize for the winner will be a $5,000 college scholarship, which will be awarded to them at halftime.

Organizers believe that the simple premise of the contest will attract large number of interested competitors.

“We are expecting several hundred people,” said Troncoso. “They just need to show up with a ticket.”

The contest will take place from 4 pm to 6 pm on Friday May 4th at the Home Depot Center, which is located on 18400 Avalon Boulevard in Carson City.
