City Cleans Up ‘Satanic’ and ‘Gang’ Graffiti in Hollydale Park
The graffiti was done outside a park bathroom.
The South Gate Public Works Department has told South Gate Patch Latino that the recent satanic and gang related graffiti, that was spotted early this week in Hollydale Regional Park, has been cleaned up.
“Everything was removed and taken care of this morning,” said Mohammad Mostakhami, Director of Public Works for the city of South Gate.

The graffiti symbols were several and were located outside of a public bathroom near the equestrian area of the park. They included satanic and gang affiliated symbols.
The South Gate Police Department (SGPD) told Patch that they believe that the Star of David, with a 666 on top, was a failed attempt to draw a pentagram.

“It is not Anti-Semitic but rather tagging graffiti for satanic worship,” said Captain Keith Hupp of the SGPD. “The graffiti next to it is some gang graffiti that is unrelated.”
The gang symbols will result in the deployment of police officers to better patrol the area.
“We will have the gang officers keep an eye out there,” said Capt. Hupp.
The fight against graffiti is tough and sometimes takes several clean ups to effectively turn away taggers from a particular area.
Gang related graffiti is particularly prone to re-appearing after it has been erased.
“This is part of the routine of being gang member,” said David Torres, field operations manager for the South Gate Public Works Department.
South Gate has a 24-hour graffiti hotline at 323-563-5793 or 800-430-8455. Residents and businesses are encouraged to call if they wish to report any graffiti.
