When an unknown number of suspects got out of the car, the woman tried to make a U-turn in the cul-de-sac but she was fired on and wounded, Lucio said. The toddler was not injured.
The woman was able to drive a few blocks before calling for help, said Sgt. Eric Johnson of the sheriff's Compton station. She was taken to a hospital where she was displaying stable vital signs.
