Come join California Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse when our "Whistle Stop" Tour pulls into a special South Gate Chamber of Commerce and Rotary luncheon with Assemblyman Ricardo Lara (AD-50). The Assemblyman will share his legislative accomplishments to help relieve small business owners from the threat of frivolous lawsuits. Assemblyman Lara's bill curbing abusive lawsuits, AB 2274, signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown, ensures frivolous lawsuits made by vexatious litigants, people who file hundreds of lawsuits, do not go unchecked.
South Gate Chamber of Commerce and Rotary members are invited to share their experience of how bad lawsuits cost good jobs with California Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse. In turn, California Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse wants to share our mission that California needs more jobs, not more lawsuits. Californians could save $5.2 billion in tort costs and the state could create between 115,000 and 320,000 jobs by improving its legal environment, according to a report released by NERA Economic Consulting.
Complimentary luncheon will be provided.

Why Create Jobs, Not Lawsuits: Abusive lawsuits and the abuse of our courts continue to be a key driver of the problems plaguing our economy. Lawsuit abuse puts small companies out of business, raises health care costs for every day citizens, and costs jobs. Public sector lawsuits cost taxpayers money and deprive them of vital services that are instead spent on legal costs. Our economy is in dire straits and something needs to be done about it.

The time is now for individuals from across the country, victims of lawsuit abuse and leaders of the legal reform movement to come together and make their voices heard, telling real life stories about the costs and consequences of lawsuit abuse, and letting lawmakers know that it is time for change.
