Fire at South Gate Recycling Yard Quickly Doused

SOUTH GATE, CA - Los Angeles County firefighters Thursday morning battled a blaze at a recycling yard in South Gate, authorities said.
The fire was reported at 12:30 a.m. in the 9500 block of South Garfield Avenue, said LACo fire Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman.
The fire was in a 2,500-sq.-ft. area of paper, mostly cardboard, Pittman said.

Firefighters had the flames out at 1:10 a.m., he said. Mop-up was complete at 2 a.m.
There were no injuries, Pittman said.
